Project Brief: To carry out the mechanical services within the extensions to Body & Trim shops within the automotive manufacturer’s manufacturing plant in Sunderland. This was in relation to the plant commencing production of the new models.
Actions: Within this facility HLA were employed to install process cooling water from cooling towers located externally with stainless steel welded pipework routed through the existing body shop into the new extension. This pipework then fed 3 main runs of pipework each of which fed several cells for the mechanised robots to produce parts for the car. Each drop had its own fine mesh filtration unit to ensure the robots, valued at £1M each, were not subject to any residue entering their cooling systems.
